High school graduates have always considered seriously which university to apply to. In order to make the right choice they should visit educational institutions, meet students and graduates and determine whether the information given in advertisements and reference books regarding various educational institutions is confirmed in reality. Of course your choice should be discussed with your parents, people with more experience who will be able to assess the educational institution in which their son or daughter is going to learn more adequately.

If we are to compare private educational establishments (and not only private form of ownership), we can come to a conclusion that the Minsk Institute of Management is a rather attractive educational institution for students. Firstly, I would like to draw your attention to modern technical equipment used in educational process in our institute. We have language laboratories and rooms for listening comprehension classes where you can study foreign languages with the help of computers; educational satellite television which allows transmitting a lecture to several classrooms with a feedback possibility; computer laboratories equipped with the latest technology and a lot more.

In addition to that our educational institution is notable for its faculty. Today the institute has 39 doctors of science, professors (there is one corresponding – member of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences among them), over a hundred and twenty of candidates of science, assistant professors and around 200 lecturers, senior lecturers and assistant lecturers.

A lot in the teaching process depends on the lecturer. If a lecturer is engaged in scientific research activity, it means that he or she works on self – improvement. Therefore a student will also be able to receive modern quality knowledge, which will help him to be in demand on the labor market.

The institute carries out scientific research actively. We are the head organization for developing two state and several internal institute programs. We hold international practical scientific conferences with the participation of leading foreign and Belarusian specialists twice a year. We offer Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as well as PhD and Doctorate courses. The existence of the institute’s own publishing house provides the teaching process with all the necessary literature.

I am delighted to announce that the Institute has passed the accreditation for the purpose of gaining a university status in the beginning of 2004. The level of the Institute’s educational activity has been assessed by a competent committee of 43 authoritative specialists, including 7 state university vice-rectors, 10 doctors of science, professors, 26 candidates of science, assistant professors, as well as several experts from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus. They have unanimously concluded that our Institute has reached university standards in some criterions and has even exceeded university standards in some others. For example, according to the university standards 1 doctor of science, professor to 200 students is needed to teach, however we have 1 doctor of science, professor to 72 students. We have also exceeded the requirements for the number of computers, science and methodical literature, educational space, technical educational equipment and permanent faculty members. All of this evidence points out to the fact that our Institute meets the university requirements.

We always try to be one step ahead: we introduce new technologies and developments and obtain the newest technical teaching tools. Therefore, it is quite logical and natural that that the Institute is fulfilling one of its main missions, i.e. the innovation mission. The chosen innovation direction corresponds entirely with the internal and external educational policy of our government.
