Research activities at the Minsk Institute of Management as of November 2010

Executing the mission of the Minsk Institute of Management as an educational, innovative, and cultural center in the society is ensured, primarily through science.

Research work at the institute is carried out by research department, postgraduate courses and 14 departments. In addition, the vice-rector for research and international affairs supervises and coordinates the work of institute’s units which are directly related to the implementation of research: Editorial Department (regarding publication of scientific literature), the Council of Young Scientists, the Council for research work of students, Research Laboratories.

There are three Research Laboratories in the institute: Research Laboratory "Applied psychological problems," Research Laboratory "Applied basicsof efficient functioning of the national legal system," Student Research Laboratory "Problems of formation of competitive advantages of the modern enterprise."

Research is carried out according to perspective and annual plans of research work. Long-term plan of research work  for 2006-2010 was developed under four main scientific directions of the majors offered :

1. The problems of innovative development of national higher education system.
2. Problems of development of civil society in Belarus.
3. Problems of innovative development of national economy.
4. Gender issues in sustainable human development and social-market system.

Six state registered research works are almost finished :

1. Innovative directions for managers and marketers with in-depth study of information technology – the number of state registration 2006763.
2. Problems of formation of civil society in Belarus (humanitarian aspects) – the number of state registration 2007865.
3. Problems of effective lawmaking and law enforcement in Belarus – the number of state registration 2006674.
4. Developing innovative models to improve product quality and competitiveness of the enterprise – the number of state registration 2006358.
5. Organizational-economic mechanism of management of intellectual property as a resource for innovative economic development – the number of state registration 20065262.
6. The study challenges the level and quality of life for the population of Belarus in the system of sustainable human development in the gender dimension – the number of state registration 20062884.

During the period 2006-2010 the teaching staff conducted comprehensive and industry research programs. Industrial Science and Technology Program "Medical Ecology and Health" (the head organization – Republican Scientific Practical Center of Hygiene, the financing of state budget – Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus). Within this IRTPs in 2007-2009 has executed the task 03.03 "Develop and implement a hygiene requirements and regulations to ensure state supervision and safe working conditions for employees in enterprises flour production and bulk storage of grain products, research manager – Doctor of Medical Science, professor, professor of legal psychology Shevlyakov V. Starting from 1 quarter of 2010 performed research on the job 02.02 "Develop criteria for evaluating and regulating biological production factor, the requirements for safety and hygienic conditions of production workers cereals» (the number of state registration 20100663) within IRTPs "Health and Environment (State customer – The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus).

Under the State comprehensive research program "Theoretical and methodological foundations of sustainable development and social innovation-oriented economy of the Republic of Belarus" (Economy and Society), 2006-2010 on orders 3.02 of subprogram "Public administration" carried out research "Economic and organizational and legal mechanisms for managing intellectual property as a resource for innovative economic development of the Republic of Belarus» (the number of state registration 20065262). Parent organization, the executive – The Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus, co-executor – MIM (supervisor – professor, head of the chair of Economics and Production Management Kudashov V.).

The institute has adequate staff research potential. Currently (11/01/2010) in Minsk Institute of Management  on a regular basis are 12 doctors, 70 candidates of science. To perfom research they involve employees of other organizations that have advanced degrees.

There are two educational research schools being successfully developed that are managed by leading scientists of MIM. Scientific-pedagogical school of problems of innovative development of national higher education system, led by the Grand PhD in Economics, professor, rector of MIM Susha N., and scientific-pedagogical school of problems of intellectual property management as a resource for innovative development, headed by Grand PhD in Economics, professor, head the chair of Economics and Production Management Kudashov V.

The results of scientific and methodological studies are published in  two magazines issued in Minsk Institute of Management:

• “Innovative educational technology” (4 times per year);
• “Economics and Management” (4 times a year, is included in the list of scientific publications of the Republic of Belarus for the publication of the results of dissertation research).

Until 2010, Minsk Institute of Management issued journals “Proceedings of the Minsk Institute of Management” (2 times a year, was included in the list of scientific publications of the Republic of Belarus for the publication of the results of dissertation research); “Law Journal” (4 times a year, was included in the list of scientific publications of the Republic of Belarus for the publication of the results of dissertation research); “Psychological Journal” (4 times a year, was included in the list of scientific publications of the Republic of Belarus for the publication of the results of dissertation research).

During the period 2006-2010 alumnus of postgraduate studies of the Minsk Institute of Management defended 7 dissertations, including 1 dissertationon specialty 08.00.05 , 6 dissertations on specialty 12.00.03 .
